Therefore, by dumping money into upgrading it as soon as it's found, you'll have a powerhouse of a weapon that will devastate most enemies at close range with a single shot, especially if aimed for the chest or head. That's because you won't have other options for shotguns for a while after finding the Ithaca. The Ithaca M37 is going to be the first shotgun you come across in the game, and you'll find that, even though it's not the most powerful shotgun in the game, it might be the most useful weapon in the game for many chapters. When combined with an upgraded attack range, what you'll end up having is the power of a shotgun with the range of another weapon entirely. But rest assured, this shotgun is unlike any other shotgun in the game, simply because of its three-barrel attack.

Once unlocked, you'll see what appears to be an extremely high price tag associated with substandard statistics. The Hydra is a beast of a shotgun, but unfortunately you have to unlock its use, so it won't be available to you immediately (simply upgrade the Ithaca shotgun to capacity to unlock it).
